I'm Maartje. A 29 year old chameleon girl... or is it woman, still feels like girl thow.
I live in Gorinchem, that's a small city in the Netherlands. I winded up here because of my sweet sweet boyfriend.
That's like seven years ago, men....time really does fly! We live here with our bunny and part time dog!
Before I moved here, I've been living in bigger city's ( Rotterdam and Utrecht) That was lots of fun! Those city's are really alive, like every day of the week. I lived in those two city's for a few years, because of school, work and boyfriends...but in my case these three things always come and go.
And so did the places where I lived. I've moved so many times that I've lost count of it.
But as I wrote before, I kind of settled down here in Gorinchem... But who knows where we'll wind up eventually.
School stuff! I started a few study's, but never really finished them..Something I still regret, but I kind of had a hard time figuring out what I wanted to do. I started as a hairdresser, then became a nurse. But I think being young( I was 19 years old) and insecure got me doubting my decision to become a nurse. So then I decided to do something more creative! I found a study that was a mix of culture, theatre and organizing events. At least, that's what I thought. But after two years of going to school and haven't really learned anything, my motivation kind of went to an all time low. And to top it off, my father suddenly passed away, which made everything even more difficult.
In this period of my life I kind of wondered around, not knowing what to do with myself or my life.
Then a friend of mine at the time pointed out to me that she could hand in my CV at the hair salon where she worked.
Having nothing to lose, I gave it a go.. and I got hired! Hooray!
That was like seven years ago, and I'm still working at the same salon in Dordrecht. It's called Kinki Kappers.
It's a funky, edgy hair salon, for allllll ages! The fun of working there is that you can totally be yourself, having super cool colleague's and having so many different customers, which leeds to a range of different cuts and colors on the people that come in! I love being creative, and having people around me, so this job is perfect for me.
And being kind of a crazy hair dying lady, working here is also perfect for me, because I can do everything with my hair that I want!
Which leads to having different hair every two months...
In my free time I do all kinds of stuff.
I like to read, write, and go to the movie theater. I like all kinds of movies..except for the really scary ones( I'm still trying to watch "The Walking Dead", that's how big of a baby I am) , and the really bad action movies. Although sometimes you've got movies that are soooo bad, their almost good. And I really like sit coms. Maybe a little bit to much. Big Bang Theory, Modern Family, Friends, Sex and the City, Two and A Half Men, New Girl, you name it!
And of course I'm a sucker for Disney and Pixar movies, love them!
I can't live without music. Listening and singing to it..I love everything from The Black Keys to Snoop Lion.. so yeah, that is allot!
Once a week I make time for some yoga exercises and I take Zumba lessons. I like to keep in touch with my body!
I love going outside.. or better put, it feels good to be outside. Being in nature, feeling the wind blow, getting your mind cleaned up.
And of course I'm always buzzy with hair and make up! I'm kind of a girly girl in that way.
Going out to get a new tattoo is also something that's a big part of my life. It's been a while now, I'm still saving up.
I like to travel once in a while. I like a good city trip! The city I ( or we both) fell in love with is Berlin.
So you're probably gonna see some post's about this amazing city.
O and food... glorious food! I have more fun eating it , then cooking it.. but still, loooove it!
And of course I work on my blog, I have so much fun doing it. And I also get really inspired by other blogs.
Working on my blog, and reading others have thought me so many new things.
You know, reaching the age of 30 also teaches you all kinds of stuff. At least, for me it does.
Little by little I know where I want to go in life,or how I want to life my live, and everyday I learn how to make that possible.
I've decided I wanna be happy and enjoy my life as much as I can, and I realized that this is something that only I can do.
It takes some time, and it's not always happy rainbows and sunshiny days, but I'm getting there!
And if I can, so can you!
Kisses
